((proof that 19% in the stats aren't just for show, though obviously after this is quelled that number shrinks))
Arcanos was a huge metropolis, no crime, no 'slums', and plenty for anyone who deserved it. However, some did not like the authority they needed to put up with in order to sustain their lives. Sure, they have academies to go to, and plenty of markets to shop, but if they even spoke of disliking the king they were imprisoned and beaten, and anything seen as rebellious was met with death by extended torture.
While most who disliked this just moved to Avie'ka, some were greedy and wanted all the benefits and none of the downfalls. Today, such people finally were able to make a small communication amongst themselves, without being caught and killed by guards. A powerful mage actually designed a spell to transfer a message to any that didn't feel loyalty to Ules. It took hours to cast and would likely not work a second time, but if they could manage to rebel victoriously, they wouldn't need to.
The message sent was as follows.
"All capable should meet at the southeast guard quarters for our fist strike against the tyrannical empire at sunrise"

Somehow her travels led her here. Well, she had been just about everywhere else in Carme, it seemed. Perhaps she would take a break. Spend a couple nights at an inn. Maybe a week, depending on her mood. What else was there to do? These past few months have been nothing if not uneventful. Now she didn't even have Arai to accompany her since he was killed in a fight four years ago.
Karei had just bought a room when she received an odd message. "All capable should meet at the southeast guard quarters for our fist strike against the tyrannical empire at sunrise" Ah, some sort of rebellion it seemed. At first she had no interest of attending. Her thoughts turned though when she realized she had nothing better to do. The lass needed some excitement in her life.
She grabbed a short, brown hooded cloak, which barely reached her waist. It was best to keep her face hidden in case this was some sort of trap, a way to draw out the unfaithful and rebellious and then kill them. Finding the quarters was somewhat difficult, especially when she didn't want to ask directions. Still she managed. By sunrise Karei arrived, apparently one of the first. She kept near the exit, leaning against the wall with her hood up to conceal her face.
She was curious to see how this would play out. Waiting was quite a bother, though.

Finally... It had been a week before that idiot guard back in Sparinik had let Natalie actually leave the city. Even then, he insisted on an armed guard until they reached the border of the Eastrlunds. The obstinate femme had of course managed to turn them around before they were out of sight of the city. With a grin forming on her face, she kick Sandsea into a gallop and was soon much to far for any reprimanded escort to find her again.
Then, it had been a wearying...well, she wasn't sure. When trying to keep a low profile and weaving in and out of danger zones with minimal mishap, she often forgot about how long she'd been there. No more than three weeks. Probably a little less, but regardless, she had decided to take a rest at Arcanos. One may think that she would avoid this place, but the ruling tended not to care about lone travelers. Natalie was much safer at an inn here, rather than camping somewher vulnerable near the border of Yagothia.
The young woman got the message while lounging about in a tavern. It was a very unexpected and odd feeling, and she could not deny that it made her jump. A man seated nearby snickered, but before anyone else could notice, Natalie gave him a warm smile, and walked out of the tavern.
Retrieving her horse, Natalie made her way to the spot in a meandering, roundabout way. Sunrise was not far off by the time she got there, her horse snorting in a sort of impatient way. Placing a fair hand on the gelding's neck, Natalie scanned the area, still safe in the shadows of a side road. Only one person, so far. But the person in question was hidden ominously under a short cloak, and the only thing she could tell conclusively about the person was that she was a female.
Warily, the woman took light hold of her rapier, and pulled Sandsea forward.

The young thief was, for once in his life, short of funds. having somehow slipped back into Arcanos despite being expelled previously for pickpocketing, not that anything was proven but misfortune had dictated that Ules had happened upon the bandit at that time and quickly, and loudly, issued a warning that served as a judgement. However ules had quite suddenly found himself preoccupied and Skeet had been able to slip away. Now the bandit had returned in secret, planning a quick stop and 'shop' before heading towards Sparnik. Afterall he had exhausted the southern kingdoms in his wanderings, and searching though his pursuit of Karei had never been all that whole-hearted for some reason, more a convenient excuse to roam for a while. After the South it seemed only natural to explore the North, though the bandit hoped toe avoid Yagothia, he was too well known amongst thieves and had made too many enemies there as well to be sure of a safe, quiet passage.
Skeet was just relieving a few people of their valuables in a small tavern, the strict rules against thievery having made people complacent about their belongings and thus easy targets, when he heard the sudden announcement. Quick on the ball the bandit made no outward sign of the starling message, instead casually finishing his drink whilst flirting with the barmaid before heading out of the tavern. Collecting deadly Nightshade from the stables the young thief made his way as a leisurely walk towards the guard quarters in question, stopping before actually reaching the place and dismounting. Signaling for Deadly to wait the thief employed his greatly honed skills of stealth to slip silently between the shadows, creeping up on the gathering rebels. Amongst them he saw a beautiful female sitting atop a mount and almost felt sorry for what he was about to do but the moment quickly passed.
Slipping back into the shadows and returning to his horse Skeet drew out the enchanted jewel Ules had given him over 5 years previously, the item having had no use since the Great war but Skeet felt that it still held it's enchantment, the only question was whether Ules was listening on the other end still. Well, no harm in trying. It was not as if Skeet cared whether or not Ules had a little rebellion but he saw a good opportunity here to make a bit of cash by employing the same tactics his gang held in the great war.
"Ules, are you there? I have a proposition for you."

((Note: still open, either to guards of arcania, i know i have about 2 now, nobles, people who just hate rebellions, or further rebels. The order of posting for now doesnt matter, not until the battle actually starts))
Ules was in a large grassy area near the town, which was probably why the rebels chose the current time to plan a revolt. If they could do it before Ules heard of it they could strike a crippling blow and go into hiding before he got back to stop them.
As he had been doing a lot lately, he was testing the strength of his anubis warriors, gifted to him from Ethayarajan's avatar. Since the god himself couldn't interfere with the inquisition he gave his faithful servant these soldiers to prevent his nations from being destroyed by inquisitors. However, Ules needed to keep their existence quiet until said holy crusade began, lest Alyara or the like learn of the interference caused by the dark god (As such, they wouldn't be used if Ules heard of the rebellion).
Something that had never occured before happened next, in that the jewel Ules used to contact Skeet activated, meaning the bandit was contactinh him for once. A small dark widnow appeared, Skeet visible on the other end, and Skeet would see the same, though anyone nearby would see nothing, and assume the bandit was mumbling to himself.
"Ules, are you there? I have a proposition for you.", Skeet said
"Alright, I'm listening, what is it that you had in mind?", Ules replied
Ules' interest was piqued, as Skeet would only contact Ules if he either had something he knew was worth a ton of gold or valuables, or he desperately needed assistance and was at a last resort, which idn't seem to be the case. He figured that his bag of gold would be signifigantly lighter by the day's end, but also decided it would likely be worth it.

So far the only person to catch her attention was a woman, but that was probably because she was on horse back. Her gaze continued to drift through the crowd. Other than the woman no one really stood out enough to commit to memory. But then she caught a fleeting glimpse of someone familiar.
Skeet... Her stomach turned uncomfortably at the sudden and quick sight of him. At first she thought she just saw someone who looked like him. But she managed to see him a second time, slipping out. Karei hesitated, then quietly followed. She saw him just outside and quickly stashed herself behind a nearby wall, listening.
"Ules, are you there? I have a proposition for you."
Her brow furrowed a bit. Was he working for the King? It wasn't like him to be loyal to any kingdom. Then again, it sounded more like a good opportunity. Karei stayed still, trying to control her suddenly shallow breathing while listening. She had not seen anyone, nor did she hear anything else.
Making sure her hood kept her face hidden, she placed a hand on the corner and slowly peeked around. The only person she saw was Skeet and no one else. Now she was a bit torn as to what to do. Clearly the rebellion would be a failure if Skeet ratted them out, so staying was suicide. She could go back and warn them...but that might get him killed. Leaving was the best option, except he was at her only exit. There was no way she would risk him seeing her.
Karei silently cursed to herself as she shifted and placed her back against the wall again, deciding to just listen and see what would happen.

((Figured I'd answer since Karei and Natalie have nothing much to really reply to. Hope you don't mind.))
Despite the passage of five years and the idle threats Ules had passed the last time they met Skeet was pleased that the necromancer answered his call as if this channel of communication between them had never been closed. The young thief grinned at the words that floated through the dimensional portal between them, his arrogance and cocky attitude not dulled with age as the bandit was still very much a teenager at heart, if a better experienced and more deadly one than he had been. The fact Ules had bothered to answer meant that Skeet had caught the sorcerer's curiosity and for Skeet the whole situation gave him the opportunity for some fun as well as a huge profit, Ules' pockets ran deep after all and Skeet fully intended to exploit this entire scenario.
"It will cost you; my prices are steep as I'm sure you remember. Though better value than they were, I'm a much better thief and fighter than I was at 19. Lets say the same price as for the Neko kidnapping job, if you accept my offer that is."
He reminded Ules, seemingly completely at ease despite the fact he was apparently talking to himself in a dark alleyway within close proximity to a gathering of rebels. Should one of them over hear this conversation that was Skeet's plan, and possibly his life, forfeit but the thief wasn't dumb enough to allow such things. Now that Ules' attention had be grasped the bandit took from a pouch on his belt one of many orbs enchanted with simple, short-term spells for use in secrecy and escape. The one he dropped at his own feet now spread a blanket of silence around the boy, not allowing a word he said to be heard by any unless they were within half a foot of the thief, at which point they would have more issues dodging Skeet's blade than hearing his words. Of course the shadows the bandit kept to prevented others from seeing his face and reading his lips.
"I'll be generous Ules and give you a little taster. Right now somewhere in your painstakingly stolen country those who harbour less than ardent thoughts towards you are gathering to launch an assault."
He informed the leader of Arcania, choosing his words carefully to ensure Ules would think Skeet's efforts worth the money without giving the sorcerer so much information that Skeet rendered himself an unnecessary expense.
"Now I'm sure you could send your decomposing pawns out to scour the land and smoke these disloyal subjects out of their holes but wouldn't that be disruptive and distasteful to your more devoted people and cause even more animosity towards you among the general populace. I have gathered that you're not exactly popular as far as rulers go, or were you unaware of that fact?"
The thief continued, still with his same cocky grin and light-hearted manner, as though discussing something as mundane and casual as the weather. His words were also carefully chosen to rile Ules, allow him to think Skeet had more information than he actually did and make him concentrate on the insults rather than the information, if Ules was so petty to be bothered by such things.
"Rather than stir more rebellion I propose that you use me as a spy, allow me to go undercover in their ranks and feed you information so that when you strike you strike at the head and the heart instead of aimlessly chopping off the limbs."
He suggested, again playing his words out to make Ules believe he held all the cards and was calling all the shots. Well the thief might not have changed much in terms of cockiness and attitude but he was certainly wiser and more level headed than his teenage self, his intelligence overriding his pride. The young bandit stopped, smiling calmly as he awaited Ules' response. This should prove to be interesting regardless of what happened and that alone was worth the risk of Skeet hanging around in a land unfriendly towards his profession.
((I pologise if I repeat some parts or it doesn't flow well. I had to go to the shop in the middle of writing it so had a 2 hours gap in my train of thought, so irritating.
EDIT: Sorry Karei, you got in before me but I really have nothing to change since whatever Skeet does next is dependant on Ules. I did add the first bit to at least give you something to reply to.))

((Short, just to say I'm still here.))
Though Natalie noticed the man, she did not follow, as the other did. Though apprehension did swell inside her and she fiddled with the idea of leaving while she could; after all, she had heeded the message merely for curiosity's sake, and curiosity was not worth getting killed. However, all she did was back her obedient horse back into the shadows of the alleyway, a way of masking her face.

((That's right, Im actually replying )) Skeet began putting himself on a pedestal, explaining how five years had made such a difference in his abilities or something of the like that he didn't care much about. But he was going to charge as much as a kidnapping job long ago, which was a vital, if badly decided, course of action in that war. That meant that whatever was going on could mean the start of another battle or uprising, something Ules didn't have the time for when already dealing with inquisitors and their ilk. As such he'd have to hear Skeet out, though he wasn't going to make it obvious he was this interested. Skeet went on to dance around the fact that he knew of a rebellion, something that lit an internal flame of rage in Ules' mind. He remained calm, but the slight discrepancy in his tone past this point would make it obvious to a trained ear that said words got to him. Skeet planned to act as a spy, which really meant trusting him to the point of using heresy as evidence. He would generally be fine using this as evidence to punish possible traitors, but for a more organized rebellion the scale of killing would give him a worse name overall. "A rebellion? Even if that is the case I doubt that they have any true capability to breach even one of my smaller town's defenses. I"ll need some evidence before I'd be willing to pay you anything. For all I know, you being a two-timing scum of the earth type bandit, you're spear-heading the operation and trying to con me out of funding to fuel a rebellion against my own country. SO why should I trust you?", Ules replied. "Oh, and one more thing. I may not be a popular ruler, but at least I make my living through power, not scouring the ground for the unguarded droppings of the wealthy", he said, putting equal effort into using words meant to grate at Skeet. "SO, am I getting evidence of some sort or am I hunting you down for possible treason?" ((At this point assume a small crowd of capable warriors, weak mages, and one or two more powerful types has arrived))

((So sorry for the huge delay, exams, bronchitis and finding a house delayed me. This will be crap since I'm out of practise but I didn't want to leave it any longer.))
The note of irritation in Ules' voice pleased the bandit immensely but that cocky smile faded slightly and Skeet cursed inwardly when Ules demanded evidence. What evidence could Skeet possibly give right now other than showing Ules the gathering, which would be nothing short of moronic from Skeet's point of view since it would just basically be cutting himself out of the deal by naming the leader straight away. besides Ules seemed to think this uprising was more of an annoyance than a threat, which was just typical of the overly arrogant necromancer really.
"Very well Ules, I shall give you your evidence in due time and then we can talk again"
Skeet answered curtly, already forming a plan in mind. There was nothing he could do to prove his words right now so better to let Ules stew a while and be sure of his approach than rush in, after all the sorcerer wasn't the easiest of fish to catch. Unfazed by Ules' threats the young bandit continued.
"Give me one week and I will bring you your evidence. Of course you can hunt me down if you wish but I doubt any of your pawns would find me, or keep me, and while you do that pitiful rabble rising against you will only grow in support. I would point out though that it's fairly obvious to even the village idiot that magical means would be needed to escape your detection and when have you ever know me to use magic?"
Skeet continued in his lazy manner, bristling slightly at the insult Ules passed his way in relation to Skeet's lifestyle. As if the bandit would want to earn an honest day's living, or have the pressure of ruling. So utterly boring and Ules, who stole his land by cowardly means in the war, really had no room to talk concerning Skeet's own method of survival.
"Of course, because stealing countries is so much more acceptable than stealing purses"
Skeet snapped back, letting his temper momentarily get the better of him before regaining control.
"One week Ules, and you'll have your evidence"
Skeet reiterated before severing the connection, better to leave Ules fuming than let the necromancer rile him into spilling more than he intended. After letting the jewel drop back to his chest the bandit crushed the silence orb to break the spell and stood out from the shadows, his thoughts busy contemplating what evidence to give to Ules when suddenly he noticed a hooded figure at the entrance to the alleyway as her head peeked round. Drawing a blade in a single fluid movement he stopped, pointing it at her.
"Show yourself and I might let you live. Don't try to run though because I guarantee I'm faster"
He called, not loudly considering the distance was only short, but reading his enchanted ankle bracers for a chase. They always try to run, stupid cowards.

((ooc: pfft. you replied way quicker than ules did =p and dun worry, i think every understand how much exams kill. hope you feel better, though~ *nodnod* i dun have much for this so expect crap. normally i'd stall until i get something good but...eh, i already stalled in Auris topic forever ._.))
Karei listened intently as Skeet replied, seemingly to no one, asking for a price. That sounded more like him, but she still could not believe he would ally himself with such an authoritative figure. Then nothing happened, or she thought nothing happened. Perhaps the other was talking and she just could not hear him...After a couple minutes she was rather tired with the silence, wondering if he was even talking to the King still. Keeping her hood in place, she leaned forward and peeked around the corner to see what he was doing. Unfortunately, just as she did, he caught sight of her and so she snapped back up and pressed herself against the wall as tight as possible, as if trying to disappear into it. Dammit, she cursed herself. Her first instinct was just to go back to the meeting, act as if she had seen or heard nothing. That would put her in danger, too, though. Leaving was not an option now, either. I should have left, dammit! She cursed herself again, letting out a low growl under her breath.
The young man uttered a threat, causing her to roll her eyes. What could she do though? Showing herself was out of the question. Running was futile. Fighting was...impossible. Maybe she could talk her way out? That wasn't something she was very good at, but it was better than nothing.
Karei stepped to the side, just so her figure could be shown, and held her hood up in place. "What will you do if I show myself? You 'might' spare my life is no guarantee." Then, he could kill her anyways. She placed her left hand on the hilt of her sword, gripping it tightly and ready to pull it out if she needed to.
"Kill me anyways, then? What would happen if I shouted "spy" so the others in there could hear me? Even if you killed me, they would come to find you, the only one left to be a spy." The threat was empty, though, and she was sure even if it wasn't he'd still find a way out of it. Kar inhaled softly, trying to think. Ah, then an idea.
"How about a partnership?" Her tone raised a bit as she gained more confidence, though she still remained partially hidden, not daring to come out further. "I don't hand you over to the restless rebels in there, you don't kill me, and we split the profit." Now the question was, would he go for it? That is, if he even made a deal with the king...from what she heard it sounded like it. This certainly wasn't his thing; he wasn't the type to make deals, especially when the deal-maker was in no position to make deals. It was worth a shot, at least.
Karei tilted her head up slightly, not enough for him to see much of her face (except, perhaps, the lower half), but enough for her to see him clearly and see his reaction. Then, if he did accept she was stuck here...and trying to keep her identity hidden. Perhaps he wouldn't recognize her? No, fat chance there. Sure she looked very different but that was still a risk she didn't want to take unless it was a last resort.

((So sorry for being AWOL (not that i need permission, lol). I've had bronchitis since Christmas and it's been hard enough to keep up with uni work, let alone rp. This most likely will be short and not so good but oh well))
The young bandit was pleasantly surprised to hear the voice of a female issue forth, wondering if charm rather than brawn would be better suited to this occasion. Her defensive tone, however, told him better. Immediately he judged that she was fiery and stubborn and probably used to holding her own in a world of men if she was slipping down alleyways alone. They were the worst ones to deal with and right now the thief's priority was escaping into the crowd, not adding another notch to his bed post. Skeet chuckled to himself as she questioned his intentions, clearly distrustful but then again he wasting exactly a trustworthy person. Part of him wondered how long she had been stood there, what she had heard. He tried to remember exactly what he had said before casting the spell of silence, wondering if he had given anything away about his identity. He was pretty sure that he had said Ules' name but the real question was whether she had been skulking around then to hear it. He found amusement in her empty threats, casually approaching but keeping his guard up. he had been taken by surprise by a girl one more than one occasion, much to his own embarrassment but then again he had been a foolhardy youth.
"You have no guarantees; nor any options.'
He informed her, scoffing at her proposed partnership. It was a clever tactic, making it out as if she was doing him a favour and thus he owed her one in return but Skeet was no simpleton. He took another couple of steps forward, almost within grasping distance of the woman. He judged his own reach to be longer and he was almost certainly faster so did not consider himself threatened by the proximity but he wasn't exactly at ease either, not that his laid-back attitude would suggest such.
'Call out if you wish, see how many come running and who they will believe. It will be your words against mine and I can be quite charming.'
He dared her cockily, holding his hand in the direction of the gathering rebels to accentuate his point. He expected her to bail, after all a male wandering the world alone is a common sight. A female, on the other hand, is rarer and therefore more suspicious. In the eyes of simple folk females who don't chose to settle and marry are dangerous and to be avoided. Skeet almost laughed aloud at the uncomplicated view of peasants which was both a hindrance and a help depending on the situation. And, he judged, in this situation he was in the better position. So sure was Skeet of this he remained silent, hand outstretched; inviting, no daring, the female to call out and expose him and herself to the unmerciful judgement of scared and angry rebels.

Of course Skeet would not fall for such a trick. Karei new it would not work, but it was still worth a try. She clenched her jaw as he spoke and couldn't help but roll her eyes. His arrogance was such a pain. How in the world was she able to tolerate him? Well, she knew how but she certainly didn't want to dwell on the past now. Instead she had to think of a way out. He called her bluff, which was expected, but she was still stuck. Perhaps she should just show herself...would he recognize her? With her hair shorter her features were framed differently and the scar that streaked across her face certainly made her look a little different...no, it was foolish to think a couple changes would make her unrecognizable for him. Well, perhaps she should just keep talking. The seconds were ticking by - she was aware of every one - and the longer she stalled the harder it would be. Finally she turned her head a bit to look at him, a smirk visible from beneath her hood.
"Charming?" She chuckled a bit, turning to face him completely. Her hand moved from the handle of her sword and she crossed her arms over her chest, shifting her weight onto her right leg. "Sure, you may be able to bed everyone woman in there, but can you really convince them that you're not a spy, Skeet?" Karei paused then, flicking her tongue over her lower lip and watching him to see his reaction. Then she continued. "Or you could just use those magic bracers of yours to escape. But that's not your style, is it?" Now she was taunting him, trying to gain the upper hand in their 'conversation.' Maybe she could scare him a bit with what she knew of him...that could backfire with him killing her, though. Then again, she was sure he would want to know who she was and how she knew about him...At the very least she could try to convince him that she was the one with the upper hand, not him.
"Your charm can only take you so far, Skeet. I know a lot about you and I know about your deal. You've worked for Ules before, haven't you? I can just tell them all about you. And what are you going to do? Sleep with the women to win their favor?" She let out a small, mocking laugh at him. Her laughter died off soon enough, though, but her smirk lingered. "So then, how about that partnership, Skeet?" Karei asked, once again using his name to remind him that she knew who he was.

((Just to keep the rebelness alive and give me something to RP . By the way, if either of them talk it's likely that they'll both be torn to shreds for fear of the rebellion being compromised)) Ules had wanted to retort to Skeet's insults, but the window closed before he could, with Skeet having said he'd need a week to round up the proper evidence and information he'd need. Ules cursed to himself; he didn't like having to wait on rooting out the revolutionaries. He preferred to find them immediately and slowly kill them for their crimes. Bringing up a new window, he contacted Daniel, Eliza, and his other top officers simultaneously. "I have word of a possible rebellion. Do your best to search all major cities, but be discreet. I don't need their cause to be furthered by random people being violently interrogated on the street", he explained, to which the others agreed and severed communication
At the gathering, an imposing, powerful looking young mage with short blonde hair and a sorcerer's robe stepped up on a crate, as the crowd had gathered to a fairly large size, most nothing more than minor warriors or cantrip wizards, though a few more powerful types littered the area as well. As they turned their attention to him he began to speak in a charismatic, strong voice. "Ules' oppression knows no bounds! Tonight we will land our first blow against his regime. A small target, yet large enough to garner attention and support, this guardhouse will fall by our hands and begin the process of crippling the tyranny of Arcania!", he said, causing several cheers to erupt. By this time, some of the guards had awoken and an alarm was sounded as a captain stepped out to check on the commotion. Undead began redirecting towards the bunker as those inside prepared to launch the counterattack on the rebels. The battle had begun. ((finish your convo and then deal with the fight. Feel free to end it in eithe rof your posts, it should be a quick strike, damage the building, and then a retreat to...somewhere))

A chill crept through the young bandits toned frame as she spoke his name. Whatever he was expected it was not that and the revelation put his off balanced momentarily, allowing her to continue her taunts. He wasn’t exactly unknown but his reputation was mostly limited to the Avie'kian forest, mainly to those who lived in the dark underworld and the few authority figures he had ridiculed enough for them to bear personal grudges. He should not be known to anyone in Arcania besides Ules. Of course there was the possibility that he had slept with this girl previously but Skeet did not use his gang's nickname with his conquests. It made him too easy to find and the name was clearly not his birth one which tended to make women nervous about his intentions. Plus he went more to settled women than travellers and had bedded no such wench in Arcania yet.
He was sure she had not heard Ules speak it and even if she had how did she know of the bracers? Only one who had seen him fight could know of them and Skeet made it a point to eradicate enemies, which only left allies and the few enemies that had escaped his grasp. Her words were unsettling to the bandit and he realised as mentioned sleeping with the women in the rebellion that he had barely even listened to her so consumed he was by his bewilderment over her identity. Without even thinking he answered her suggestion, scoffing unconsciously with the merest flicker towards the gathering crowd where a man had begun to preach.
"Don't be ridiculous. Charm isn't just about getting women into bed."
He answered immediately, not even addressing her questions about his prior arrangements with Ules. It wasn't until she reiterated her previous proposition that Skeet snapped back fully from his contemplations, his brilliantly azure orbs narrowing in suspicion. Invoking the enchantment in his bracers he took the remaining steps toward the hooded female in the blink of an eye, his blade aiming to press at her throat in the same swift movement. Beyond the alley Ules guards were awoken by the rebels, the first clashes of steel signalling the beginning of what should be a minor skirmish but signified a potentially huge event, unless Skeet got his way.
"How about I simply kill you here? A casualty of war. A noble and brave rebel who gave her life fighting for freedom. Who will you tell then?"
He growled at her, his frustration at his own ignorance and his impatience now to join the battle, to establish himself as a one of them before the rebellion became too organised, made Skeet short-tempered. After all it was only a single woman and she was making his life more awkward than need be. Skeet would shed no tears over the death of a simple wench, especially not when she threatened his next pay-off.

When she noticed his reaction, a more real mocking smirk appeared under her hood. Good, something to put him off, give her something to hold over him - even for a little while. She chuckled at his first comment, shaking her head a bit. "Of course." Came her reply, sarcasm dripping in her voice. Her words were sinking into him now, she could tell. Karei was able to read him fairly well now, but she did notice some differences in him... Suddenly he was in front of her, blade against her throat. Of course she was startled, but as he spoke she slowly regained her composure. Another small laugh escaped - they had been here a couple times, after all. She grabbed his blade with one hand, protecting her neck from the sharp edge as she leaned forward. Vaguely, she was aware of the commotion outside. The alarm rang, cries of battle and swords clashing sounded in the air, causing her adrenalin to rush. Right now she had to focus on the matter at hand. She licked her lips nervously, thinking of a way out. So, she would have to tell him who she was...but she didn't want to say it out. She didn't want to deal with that, especially with a battle just around the corner. "You're hesitating, again. I thought big bad bandits kill without hesitation." Her tone was lower as she muttered her 'title' for him, but there was still a hint of taunting. Karei was about to continue when she saw a couple of guards round the corner from behind him, instantly moving toward them to attack. Cursing, she saw it was two guards, instantly moving in to kill them. "Move!" Not taking into consideration the sword at her throat, she shoved passed him - cutting her hand open and nicking her neck in the process. None the less, she whipped out her swords in a quick motion and blocked the first attack with Hai, slicing Hei across of the second guard quickly. Luckily, her swordsmanship on ground had definitely improved and she was a lot less nice. Her attack wasn't enough to kill the guard, but it certainly slowed him down. Karei quickly broke away from the guards and moved back, turning so she was facing both enemies and Skeet. In case he hadn't realized who she was from the subtle hints she didn't exactly care for being stabbed in the back - again. She adjusted the sword in her hand, the handle putting too much painful pressure on the wound, but kept both blades up to fend off any attacks. ooc;; sorry for the godmodding in there =x lemme know if ya want something changed

((Just advancing the battle, I'm bored XP))
The undead were dealt with fairly easily, as several strong clerics had joined the battle, and immediately brought down several pillars of light to destroy them. Several ghasts survived, and began tearing apart one of those divine workers, as the other brought down another spell, finishing the two off, though not before the first cleric had been eaten down to the bone.
The guards had better training than the majority of the rebels, but were outnumbered since this was a smaller barracks, obviously meant more for show than to cripple the city's defenses. As such the rebels seemed to make steady ground, though not without heavy casualties among the less skilled ranks.
A high ranking guard seemed to be removing a jewel from his pocket; something generally done to call Ules or a high ranking Arcanian noble. If somebody didn't take him out, the rebellion would likely be stopped, despite the quick striking nature and precautions they had taken.

The diamond encrusted blade at Karei's neck pushed into the skin of her hand, not willing to relent. He should not have hesitated to kill her, this woman became more of a threat with every passing moment but his curiosity ebbed away his ruthlessness. As she spoke Skeet gave her only half his attention, the other half watching the melee before him, frowning in disapproval as some of the less-skilled fools were easily cut down due to basic mistakes. As such it took him a moment to register what the woman had said to him, or more importantly what she had called him. Only one person had ever referred to Skeet as such and his breath caught in his throat as realisation dawned upon him. It could not be, she was dead. If she were not dead where had she been for the last 5 years?
"Karei"
He whispered, below the threshold of any human's hearing with the noise from the nearby skirmish. So many questions raced around his head he had no idea where to even begin but there was no time to figure things out. Karei pushed past him roughly, pressure from Skeet's blade no longer hindering her passage. She defended herself against the two guards swiftly and Skeet approached the second guard, invoking his bracers as he did so, to move at a lightning fast pace. His beautifully crafted twin sabres swung in opposing arcs towards the man as he moved, Arawn slicing the man's belly open, spewing his guts into the street as Scatha exposed the guard's jugular. He was dead before he even had chance to register Skeet's movement so fast was the thief. The man collapsed soon after, vainly trying to prevent the torrents of blood from gushing out. The bandit had no time to take care of the second guard even at his speed and trusted it to Karei for there was another, more dangerous target.
One of the guards had produced a jewel similar to the one hung around Skeet's own neck. Briefly the bandit considered allowing the soon-to-be-dead guard's report to serve as proof for Ules but he decided against allowing such a report. Once Ules knew the location of the rebels he would move and who knew what sneaky tricks the necromancer had, if nothing else he could simply enter via the portal the guard would have opened. The rebels had to be long gone before Ules even got wind of the attack otherwise the rebellion would be crushed before it got started and, more to the point, Skeet's money would be just as defunct. Sheathing his sabres Skeet removed the long bow from his back, nocking it with a black fletched arrow. Skeet was no master with the long bow but he had been trained by one and thus his skill was considerably high. Taking aim the bandit let loose his arrow, nocking and releasing another in case the first was intercepted by some blundering idiot. The first arrow was true and burrowed its way into the guard's chest; the second hit him in the head a second later.

Luckily Skeet quickly took out one of the guards, leaving her with the injured one. Finishing off the remaining guard was easy enough. With his injury he was extremely slow and so Karei swiftly stabbed her blade through his heart just as he moved to attack. Grabbing the corpse's shoulder, she wrenched her blade free and let the body drop to the ground, stepping aside. For a moment she watched Skeet as he aimed an arrow at one of the guards, a bit surprised that he knew how to use a bow. Just then small group of guards came closer, some occupied with other rebels. Three of the guards spotted Skeet and instantly moved over to kill him before he could shoot the man. Karei quickly placed herself between them sharply kicking one into another and ramming Hei in the side of the third.
The first guard recovered quickly and moved in for an attack to her back. Karei quickly blocked, hissing in frustration as the other headed toward Skeet again. She tightened her grip on her sword and rammed the hilt into the first guard's face, successfully knocking him back. Without hesitation she stabbed the sword into him and released her grip, drawing a dagger out instead and throwing it at the second guard. The smaller blade hit in the back of the man, sending him to the ground. She didn't think he was dead, but at least he was stopped. Looking up she realized the other guards had their hands full with the other rebellion members. At the very least they had a couple minutes.
Karei stabbed her other blade into the ground, flexing her injured hand lazily. "Don't bother asking any questions. I won't answer until we have more time." She looked over at Skeet, tilting her head up to see from under her hood. Honestly, she wondered what he was thinking now. Was he angry? Probably. She didn't really care if he was mad at her for leaving again. After all, she was pretty angry, too. But not just at him.
"Bring me my dagger, would you?" She requested simply, though there was the faint hint of an order in her to. After all, he was closer. Then her attention was on her injured hand and she frowned at how deep the wound was. Very carefully she placed her mouth around the wound and gently sucked on it, spitting the blood out. Of course, it still bled quite a bit, so she quickly pulled out a small cloth and wrapped it around her hand, using her teeth to fasten it. The cloth didn't help, but at least she didn't have to worry about her grip slipping as much. As he gaze drifted over to her other hand - clothed in a fingerless glove - a small frown appeared. She walked over to her other sword and pulled it out of the dead guard, grunting softly with effort. Then she paused and looked over at him again, once again wondering what was going through his mind. She was distantly aware of the battle happening not far away. From the look of things the rebels would win this battle. If they did she might consider staying...at the same time she wasn't sure how long she wanted to be near Skeet.
Still, a rebellion sounded like fun.
