The sun was just rising over the hill to the east. Birds sang out in blessed song as the morning dew glistened off the foliage. A man of about 5’ 9” stood within the coverage of a few bushes obviously packing up his camp from the last night. The man picked up a sword the size of him and strapped it to his back. As he picked up his belt he looked up at the sound of foot steps. That was one advantage of the forest. People couldn’t sneak up on you due to all the twigs and leaves on the ground.
Tightening his belt with both his short swords within there sheaths. He fell down to a prone position and picked up his crossbow. He was waiting, listening, watching for any hint of attack. For that was the life of a wander in the wilderness. You never knew when you’d eat next, get an actual bed to sleep in, not to mention if you’d find any work at the next town you passed through.
So he’d wait, for either the fight that would ensue, or for the thing that was nearby to leave from this place and continue packing up his poor excuse for a camp. After all he hadn’t had a job for the last month. Every one either already had people doing it for them or didn’t have a damn thing for him to do.

A fluttering could be heard, a pair of wings bringing themselves up and down to keep a small creature hovering above the ground. The fluttering slowed, turning silent as the small creature let herself be lowered onto the ground.
Looking up she saw that the sun was rising and smiled to herself. The day would start, and as she thought about it, pattering could be heard. Looking straight ahead of her, she saw a small chipmunk running in her direction. She giggled, and watched as it came closer.
Waiting for the beautiful creature to reach her, she let her wings pick her up and grabbed a nut from the small tree for the animal. Delighted, the chipmunk nuzzled his nose against her cheek and this brought on another fit of giggles.
“Yes, of course I love you too” She whispered as she put her tiny arms around the creatures head. “I have to go now” Were the fairies parting words as she lifted herself into the air again.
Above, it is much easier to see what is going on, and in the air, it is also easier to know where a person is. In the air, the small fairy saw a man hiding with an arrow in his hand. Confused, she lowered herself for a moment to get a better look. A small deer was lightly grazing, not to far from the man.
“Oh!” she gasped to herself, and wrinkled her nose in disgust. “How pathetic..” She mumbled. With the thought of the animal about to killed, she darted herself towards the man.

He knelled there waiting, ready to pull the trigger at any moment. After what seemed to be a minute, he used his trigger hand to push aside some of the brush to peer into the clearing and perhaps catch a glimpse at whatever was making the noise.
To his surprise there was a fawn grazing in the opening. His stomach grumbled at the sight of the fawn. There wasn't much meat on the creature but it would still suffice for two meals, if he rationed it. Looking back at his own pack he took a mental note of his inventory. 'Two apples, a half loaf of molded bread and a flask of water.' he thought to himself.
Sighing the man took out the two apples and took a bite of one. "So much for meat." He said standing up and tossing the other apple back in his pack. "It wouldn't of kept me feed long enough anyways." He said making up a reason to himself for why he let the fawn away. Letting his bow drop to his side he looked around at the forest, planning what he should do next.

Determined, she closed in on the man, and grumbled to herself when he let the bow drop. It was too late now, but she diverted herself to land at his feet instead of at him now. If he wasn’t going to kill the fawn, she didn’t see any point in hurting him. It wouldn’t have hurt him, just had caught his attention.
‘He’ll still see me…’ she thought to herself and readied herself for the impact. She hated contact. She much perfered to be alone, she was happier that way.
Closing her eyes, and brought her small arms inwards, as to not break them with the force of the fall. Turning her body, she felt her back absorb for the force of the fall as she made her body take the shape of the tiny ball.
“Ow…” She muttered, laying on the ground with her arms still wrapped around her torso. “Don’t step on me!!” She yelled upward, hopping the man would hear her as she started to unwrap herself.

Tiphis took another bite from his apple as something zipped past his face making him jump back. Dropping his apple he brought his bow back up to a ready position he scanned the area around him. “Where are you?” he muttered to himself looking at the trees to see if someone sought cover in them. As he looked around he heard a noise as if something was making a squeaking noise. Looking down he saw a small figure with wings on her back. Squatting down to get a better look he rested both his hands on his knees. His left hand holding the crossbow. Looking at the creature a bit puzzled he waited to see what it would do.
“Are you ok?” He asked after a second or two. If his memory served him right this girl was a fae, or a pixie. One of the two small flying creatures that inhabited the forest.

Getting her arms detangled from her small body, she pushed herself up. With a deep breath she fluttered her wings, shaking them out.
‘hmm’, she thought to herself, taking a slight check of herself. Nothing seemed broken, but her back did hurt an awful lot. She ignored the stranger in front of her, brushing the dirt from her body and shaking her wings out again.
A deep breath, and glance at the man made her remember how she got their on the forest floor in the first place and she glared. Crossing her arms she looked down and found a small pebble. With a slight glance back up at the man and picked it up in a tiny fist and threw it at him.
“I really hope that got in your eye!” She shouted, and stomped her foot. With a slight gasp, she lifted herself into the air to check on the deer.. it was gone. Angry now, she lowered herself onto his shoulder and kicked his ear. “How DARE you try to kill that baby!!” she screeched.

As he watched the fae-pixie thing clean herself off he smirked each time she shook her wings, because every time she did a bit of fae dust would fall off of them. He watched as the small thing picked up a pebble and threw it at him.
Putting up his right hand he let the pebble hit it and fall back to the ground. As he put his hand back down he saw her fly up to his shoulder. When she kicked his ear it felt as if someone had flicked it. Shaking his head he put his right hand up and flicked at her attempting to knock her off.
Placing his crossbow on the ground he stood up and looked around. “You made me lose my apple.” He complained seeing it now covered in dirt. Walking over he bent down and picked it up before falling to his side into a sitting position. “As for the fawn, I didn’t know what it was at first. You never know if your safe now a days. Especially in Arcania.” He said wiping the apple off on his cloak before taking a bite. After all he didn’t have much left.

She made a grimace as she watched his hand come up to his shoulder. Taking flight, she giggled as his attempt to flick her was a failed one. She stayed close to his head, sure the fluttering would get on his nerves eventually.
Staying where she was, she watched as he moved and sat on the ground and picked something up. When she realized it was an apple she swallowed and shook her head. Flying over to him she stood on the apple so he wouldn’t put it in his mouth.
“You are not going to eat this are you?” She asked, tapping her tiny bare foot. “You could get sick or something.” With a slight sigh she looked at the man and smiled a little bit to herself. “Stay right there alright?” She mumbled, and shook her head at the apple again.
“Do not eat that!” She said, taking flight. She flew into the air, and spun in a circle looking for the familiar type of tree. Sighing happily, she saw the tree standing alone and sped over to it. Kicking an apple she let it fall. It almost hit the ground, but she was faster that gravity. As she caught the apple, it pulled her down a little bit.
“Geesh!” She said to herself a slight pant in the effort. The apple was pretty heavy, at least for her small body. She flew back to where the man was and sat the big red apple in his lap. “There, now throw that disgusting thing away..”

With the apple already in his mouth he stopped mid chomp. He didn’t know what the fae was up to but he didn’t know if he should be trusting such a thing. Since it was just kicking him in the ear. As she flew off he watched as best he could. After all keeping track of such a small target as it zoomed around in a forest was hard. As she flew out of sight behind a tree he waited.
As she was out of sight he reached over for his crossbow and pack, holding the apple in his mouth, pulling them both over to him. After all he didn't know what the little female was up to. "What is she doing?" he asked himself looking up at the branches of the trees. A few moments later there was a soft tap on his lap. Looking down he saw a shiny red apple as the Fairy returned. “Well I could have been having meat. But I decided not to.” He said dropping the green apple from his hand and picked up the red one. Taking a bite he looked at the fairy that was no on his knee. “Thanks.” He said raising the bitten apple as if cheering with a goblet of wine. “Is there anything else that you need? Or is bothering human’s who want to eat your job?” he asked taking another bite of the apple. Making sure his crossbow was within arms reach at all times

She stood there, and watched the man as he bit into the clean apple she had gotten for him. As he said thank you and she nodded at him as if saying ‘Don’t worry about it’. It was what she did, helping creatures. That’s what he was.. a creature. A bigger, and apparently not very nice, creature.
She smiled softly and sat on his knee with her legs crossed. Sitting, she folded her wings in on herself, using them to cover her bare arms. Instantly, she became warmer.
“No, but helping is something I do” She raised an eyebrow at the man, and took a small wooden stick from in between her wings. She twirled it in her arms, and looked back at the man. “Most people just say thank you, keeping the nasty thoughts to themselves”
She shrugged, and stood up shaking her wings out to stretch them. “Leave my animals alone though alright?” She looked at him, with a dirty look on her small face before leaping from his knee.
“Most people don’t get snooty when someone tries to help them” She mumbled to herself, flying up to a tree to be back alone. She spotted a small butterfly and stuck her hand out for it to land. As he landed she pat it’s wing and with a small flick of her finger gave the critter a pinch of fairy dust. After all, it couldn’t fly along time without it.

Sighing to himself he watched as the fairy flew up and away. Placing the apple in his mouth he held it while putting the strap of his cross bow across his chest. He picked up another belt strapping it from his shoulder across his chest and connecting near his waist. With in it held three throwing knives. After a few moments of equipping his armor, he placed his pack back on his belt before grabbing his great sword and strapping that to his back.
Looking up to where he saw the fairy leave he took another bite of his apple before raising it up again. "Thanks for the food." He said with a mouthful before walking out from his circle of bushes. He would love to stay and chat with the Fae but he needed to get to town and find work. Coarse, first he had to find his way out of this forest and then how the hell to get to the capital of Arcania.

The small creature listened to the man as he walked away, curious about him. With a slight sigh she sat the butterfly down before hovering herself. Taking a deep breath she smiled to herself, the clean air felt good coursing through her lungs.
She picked up her wand from the tree and stuck back into place between her wings. Fluttering her wide wings a little faster she began to fly in sync with the mans steps. Not close to him, high above him. She wasn’t going to stay there much longer anyway. Maybe this man knew of a better place to spend her time.
She giggled as she watched him walk. Not knowing where the man was going made her slightly anxious. But in a good way. Always in a good way. Happy about her little decision to follow the man she became amused at herself and lost it in a fit of giggles. Thankfully she was high above him. Hopefully high enough that he wouldn’t be able to hear her.

He walked and walked and walked for an hour at least. But everything just looked the same to him. He didn't understand how this could be happening. He had been going in a strait line hadn't he? Of coarse he was. Right?
Sighing he set his sword against the trunk of a nearby tree. The sounds of the forest filling his ears. Birds fluttering around, the tree's leaves brushing against each other, and the critters scattering around the forest ground. Looking up he saw the sun directly overhead through the leaves. "Noon." he sighed to himself looking around him to see any sign of an exit.
"Maybe I should of stayed with the fae. At least then I'd have an idea on how to get out of here." He said picking his sword up and placing it back onto his back. Placing his hand in his pack he pulled out the other half of the red apple he was given by the fae taking a bite of his lunch before walking forward.

Ones amusement can only last so long. More than that, this particular fairy wasn’t much into the pain of others. Defeated, by the obvious frustration in the mans face she lowered herself to his level. The whole time wrinkling her little nose.
Her wings weren’t as noisy going down, as she slowed down the speed of them to lower herself to him. She was behind his head, cocking her head to either side before saying anything. What do you say to a person that doesn’t seem fond of others? And not only that, he might try to flick her again. Agravated by that particular memory she crossed her arms, still in the air before shooting herself past his head to stop in front of his face.
“Where is it that your going?” She let her arms down to her side, her wand still firmly tucked within her wings. She checked ever so often, just a slight movement and she could feel the slim sliver of wood there. “Because it’s rather tiring trying to figure it out all by myself”

Coughing a bit at the sudden appearance of the Fae he spit out the bit of apple in his mouth. Looking back from where he just spit apple on the ground to the creature floating in front of his face. A small smile went across his face as she asked where he was off to.
Taking another bite, smaller then usually he swallowed before answering. "I'm off to the capital, Arcaons. Why do you ask?" He said taking another small bite of apple. For some reason this fae was interested in him, and the fact that she was sticking around him kinda intrigued him. "Do you know the way?"
((sorry its so short.))

“Perhaps” She muttered to herself, picking at a nail to look indifferent. “Are you going to be mean to me the whole way?” When she asked this she looked up at him a small smile on her face.
He seemed happy enough to see her. Probably would rather put up with her than get lost in the unknown forest. The man was most likely just passing through. Or at least that’s what it looked like. With that, he was probably unaware of what was in the forest. The small fairy imagined that could be rather frustrating.
She continued to hover there, waiting for a response from the human. ‘why didn’t I just stay home?’ she thought to herself and looked at the man. His apple was almost gone and she heard a small rumble. “Oh!” She said, a small laugh escaping her lips. “I guess I’m a little hungry” She looked at the man, a small glare on her face.
“And that’s all your fault… Making me fly for hours to see where your going” She sighed to herself, pulling her wand from between her wings. “Could have just asked….” She continued to mutter to herself as she pointed her wand to the ground. A few moments later a tiny bush sprouted and she rubbed her hands together. “Blackberries…” She said just the one word before lowering herself to the small bush.

Taking another bite of the apple he shook his head no. "As long as you really know the way through this forest." He said chewing through the last bit of his lunch. He needed to get to a town by tomorrow afternoon. After all, one can not fight on an empty stomach.
Watching the fae take out her wand and shoot something at the ground. "I didn't make you follow me. You did that on your own." He corrected the girl. Watching as the small bush appeared at his feet he looked back at the girl. Perhaps there was more to this fae then met the eye. Coarse magic did come in all sorts and sizes.
"So you can just make food out of nowhere?" he said, an idea popping in his head. Perhaps having this fae around wasn't going to be a complete annoyance. She did seem to have powers, even if he did hate magic.

“Not just food…” She muttered to the man as she picked leaf from the tree next to her. Using a piece of vine, she turned the leaf into a small pack that she could wear on her back. “But any thing that’s alive really… small things at least” She shrugged to herself.
Without really thinking about what she was doing she picked berries of the tree and put them into the pouch. Every now and then biting off of one of them. This pouch of berries would probably feed for almost a week. Well, normally it would anyway. She wasn’t sure how long it would last with the human around. Rolling her eyes she looked back up at him. “Why do you ask?” With a raised eyebrow she started tapping her foot again.
“You wanna see something interesting?” She asked, not really caring for an answer. Slinging the pack over her shoulder she picked a single berry from the bush and laid it in his hand. Holding her wand to the small fruit she waited almost a minute. It didn’t come as easily to her.. she had to put some thought into making things grow. As she watched, the small berry grew to the size of a large apple.
“There” She said, slightly smug with herself. “That one can be yours” with a slight giggle she touched his nose then flew back to the ground to continue stuffing her sack.

Nodding as the girl talked. "I only ask because i am curious as to what other tricks you have up your sleeve." he said watching her pack the berries into her pack. This fae seemed very resourceful, even for a magic user. Coarse he wouldn't tell her that. Even for her small size she seemed to have a big enough head.
As she flew up and placed the berry into his hand he waited as she floated there. It took a moment but when it happened he couldn't help but smile wider. With skills like that she could feed herself for ever. Not to mention keep him well feed as well. Coarse that would mean she was traveling with him, and he didn't see that happening. Coarse fate worked in funny ways sometimes and you never know what could happen.
Looking back down at her as she packed the rest of the berries into her pack he smiled. "My name is Tiphis." He announced, attempting at being polite to the girl. "And thank you, again for the food." He added placing the newly apple sized berry into his own pack next to the other apple he had.

She looked up at the man, happy that he seemed to warming up to her. Humans weren’t usually as nice to her kind… Thinking they weren’t nothing much for than an oversized insect. Of course, she wasn’t sure what his motives were either.
“I am not a pixy, there for I do not posses that much trickiness” She shrugged, and tied the pouch shut. She liked to keep food on her, she was never sure where she was going to be.. And depending on where she was would depend on what could grow. And she really did love berries.
With a slight sigh she winked at the man. “Alvara” She said in a soft voice as she looked at the bush. “Are you done with this? Or can I throw the berries to the birds?” She looked at the man hopeful. She loved the birds… They were the most amazing of creatures.
